The Jacobs Foundation and Reach for Change are proud to announce ten social entrepreneurs who will positively influence the education system in Ghana. The finalists will become part of a support program to strengthen their innovative solutions to improve educational outcomes for children.
The program objective is to identify and support Ghana’s social EdTech innovators – the best individuals and organizations with potential and working solutions to make a strong positive impact on the lives of children and youth. The selection process gave a deep overview of the EdTech ecosystem and also the challenges faced by the country’s educational system.
The ten finalists’ solutions concentrate on improving reading skills in children and young people, as well as creating different types of digital learning platforms. The solutions aim to advance the development of relevant skills and inspire a transformational educational experience. Many applications further promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education and equal access to learning materials for children from different backgrounds and regions.
“We are delighted to see the diversity of EdTech solutions tackling the challenges of Ghana’s educational system and are convinced that the Scaling Readiness program with our partner – Reach for Change – will support the entrepreneurs to improve their products and reach even more children so that they can learn and thrive together”, said Cathrin Jerie, Jacobs Foundation Program Manager.
The ten social entrepreneurs will receive grant funding of up to USD 17,000, business skills development, and network- and media exposure. Their participation in the Scaling Readiness program will strengthen their research capabilities and will be an opportunity to become a part of the Jacobs network, where researchers, entrepreneurs, school leaders, and change-makers collaborate to create impactful education solution opportunity. The program partners will also ensure high-quality coaching and mentoring by world-class experts and funders.
