The Jacobs Foundation was established by entrepreneur Klaus J. Jacobs and his family on May 16, 1989. The Foundation’s goal, then and now: to strengthen children and young people.

The Jacobs Foundation has awarded the 2013 Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize and Best Practice Prize honoring outstanding achievements in research and practice in the field of child and youth development.

Hans Ambühl has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Jacobs Foundation, effective October 25, 2013. An attorney and currently Secretary General of the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK), Ambühl brings with him a wealth of experience with Switzerland’s educational system. He is succeeding Ernst Buschor, who is retiring from the board.

The 2013 Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize goes to Professor Greg J. Duncan of the School of Education at the University of California, Irvine. Receiving the 2013 Klaus J. Jacobs Best Practice Prize is Germany’s ELTERN-AG organization.
