Jacobs Media Fellowships

Promoting young people’s healthy and productive development is one of the most urgent and complex challenges of our time. The Jacobs Foundation, headquartered in Zurich, has launched the Jacobs Media Fellowships in an effort to raise public awareness of the important research that is taking place in the field of child and youth development and communicate relevant findings to the public and decision makers. The Media Fellowships consist of two programs, the Jacobs Journalism Fellowship and the Jacobs Science Writer Fellowship.

In 2019 the Jacobs Foundation partners with the European Journalism Centre as both organisations believe that journalists can help drive societal change for child and youth development given that they have access to the latest research, data and new perspectives. The Jacobs Journalism Fellowship brings together three outstanding journalists from Germany and the United Kingdom who have focused the reporting on education and child development. During a one-year program the fellows profit from access to the Jacobs Network, expert calls, site visits and bootcamps.

In 2015 and 2016, the Jacobs Foundation offered two fellowship programs to science writers from the UK and US. They learned more about the work of the winner of the Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize and they were able to establish contact with top-level research institutions in Switzerland.
